Vol. 8, No. 4 |
January 2000 |
December 4th the main banquet hall at the Ramada Inn was ringing with activity as the Wives and girlfriends were busy setting up and decorating the tables and getting ready for the fashion show. At 6:30 the fashion started and was a tremendous success. This year all the girls used their own items and Sandy E. (one of the wives), along with Liz (outgoing President) did the narration. Patty S. (Denise's SO) was in charge and she performed the impossible in making this the success that it was.
The meal was mouth watering superb. Everyone commented on how good it was and how much there was. There was plenty for everyone. Good job.
Recipients of this years awards included the following:
Atta Girl: Stephanie P. for her con-tributions to Fantasia Fair over the past two-years.
Atta Girl: Phyllis F. for her contributions to Fantasia Fair over the past two- years.
Presidents Award: Brenda L. for her many contributions to the group during the past year.
Jennifer Eaton Special Service Award:
Linda Leonard of the Ramada Inn for her acceptance, contributions and help to Innvestments over the past year.
A raffle was held with many good prizes for everyone. Innvestments thanks those companies and individuals who unselfishly contributed to this event:
IFGE Book Store, Hair Additions, Mid-Cape Vision Center, Sandy E., Candy Scott, Joan C., Models Resale, and A-Plus Electrolysis. We thank them not only for their contributions to the raffle but for their overall support throughout the years.
The entertainment was Trinity, an internationally known performer who sings to swing. This was an excellent performance.

Trinity, home based here on the Cape in Provincetown provided the entertainment.
Our own Marsha L. then provided the music for an evening of dancing pleasure.
This was, according to all reports, one of the best Innvestments events, ever.

A few months back we published a story about a gal who decided to come out at work and wanted to start wearing skirts to the business place. This is the continuation of that story.
I am a transvestite named Isobel And my nylon clad legs are legs are unmissable Although I'm the sort who likes her skirts short My stocking tops NEVER are visible.
It's now official - I can wear a skirt to work any time I wish! Although my company's policy was originally amended - following my negotiations - so as not to discriminate against cross-dressers, the desire to not discriminate against *anyone* on the basis of their sex means that the option of wearing traditionally-female clothes to work is now open to *all* men. Of course, most don't have the balls to risk potential ridicule from their colleagues, but they have the choice just the same! The rules governing what I can and can't wear to work are *exactly* the same as for other employees - namely that my clothes must be 'appropriate'. In practice, this means that smart long or short skirts with tights and chunky heels are OK at this time of the year, and for the summer, sleeveless tops, long flowing skirts, bare legs, and strappy sandals will be fine. Oh, am I looking forward to this summer!!! Furthermore, I'm not expected to return to 'conventional' clothes when visitors, customers or management come round - in fact, since my smartest clothes are women's (traditionally), I look more professional in a skirt than I do in trousers! While I've been asked not to disclose who I work for in so public a forum as this, suffice it to say that it's a UK-based global high-tech company which is well-respected throughout the world for its excellence in the field of telecommunications. I take my hat off to them for standing firm on their policy of non-discrimination - even though their decision flies in the face of nearly two centuries of tradition. Actually, I believe that they've set a precedent which other companies in Europe and throughout the world will eventually be forced to follow, and which, in a few decades time, will have seen the current one-sided dress-code which discriminates against men consigned to the dustbin of history.

J I want to thank Marsha for contributing her talents as a DJ for the Christmas party. She looked absolutely stunning in that black and white gown.
J I also want to thank the Ramada Manager who came across the group who was meeting in the conference center just down from the main ball room. They had just broken up from their day long meeting and many came down the hall to "gawk" at those "weirdo's". The manager just happened by and told them to leave. This was a private party, their bad taste comments were not justified. We were an excellent group and that they would rather have us than several other groups. Thank You. Throughout the day several of the women in this group came by the registration desk and related different experiences of their own and expressed interest in the group.......but the main group of men, Oh well........
J This harks back to what I have said several times over the past few years and for which I want to thank the membership and party visitors for......and that is for your professional appearance and attitude. This goes a long way in making our hosts, whether it was the Holiday Inn or now the Ramada, comfortable in supporting our organization. Smiles go miles...and... Ladies always get their way.
J Day dreaming: Why, in the middle of the night when I turn my pillow over, is it always cooler on the other side?
J We had canceled the Valentine Party. We had planned to have it in combination with a larger birthday party in April. This was done for one reason......finances. After we finished the Christmas party, the initial take was that we did not break even. After recalculation and when we paid our bills.....we came out in the black by a grand total of $6.00. Last year during our conversion from the old Holiday Inn to the Ramada and due to a drop in membership...we took the proverbial bath......and not in scented bubble bath. We did not break even for either the Christmas or the Valentine party......hence we had to up the price for the Christmas party from $35.00 to $40.00. This year we did break even. The official question that always requires an answer before we can go ahead with the Valentine party is.....will we loose more money than we can cover from the treasury? There has been a big hue and cry to have the Valentine party anyway. That somehow it will come out. After our January meeting and Tiffany Club's First Event the cry became overwhelming. A review of the finances with Brenda showed that we had some infusion of monies and that we could do it........So..what had been already planned but then canceled at the last minute...was reconstituted....and the Valentine party is now definitely going to be held. In order to make this event viable...we must have MAXIMUM participation...and not just the 35 folks we have had the past 3 years. We need over 40 attendees, preferably 50. So please beat the tom toms and bring your friends, their friends, your wife, someone else's wife or your boss. (Give him the time of his life). WE NEED YOU.........PLEASE ATTEND!
There was somebody who asked if crossdressing could be stopped. I do not think it can be done. I stopped crossdressing for over ten years one time. That is, because of living arrangements, I was unable to crossdress. However, I still had the desire to crossdress. No matter what I tried to do the I could not change nor eradicate this desire.
I read where some psychiatrists suggested that a person could stop if he eliminated all crossdressing paraphanalia from his life. That is throw out your clothes, disassociate yourself from any support or eliminate anything that had anything remotely to do with crossdressing. I did exactly this for over ten years but I was still unable to eliminate the desire to cross-dress from my life. The conflict between wanting to cross-dress and trying to live up to society's image of the all American male was unbearable. It caused me an enormous amount of psychological stress. I also found other unhealthy ways to deal with this outlet such as occasional trips to adult books stores, drinking but mostly overeating. I developed a very deep depression which eventually lead to a psychotic breakdown. After a suicide attempt I talked with a psychiatrist who convinced me that there is nothing wrong with crossdressing. If I enjoyed it for whatever reason and received some sort of positive benefit from it then so what? It is not a big deal. I finally gave up and began crossdressing again. I would like to say that I am free from depression and other psychological problems but this isn't the case. But one thing I did learn was not to castigate myself or beat myself up for something that really isn't a problem. Yes, I do have problems but crossdressing wasn't the problem. I have learned to identify the real problems in my life and work on these but still enjoy crossdressing. This realization that crossdressing isn't a problem has relieved a great deal of stress in my life. So if you cross-dress enjoy and do not stress yourself out about it. I myself believe that this thing cannot be cured. I think the best course is to adapt to it so you can manage the crossdressing so it will not affect other areas of your life.
Celebrate who you are as a human being and live every minute because life is too short to be consumed with problems.
Hugs to all and Happy Cross Dressing......... Julia
